What is a COW?

A COW stands for Container On Wheels and is a type of mobile storage. Unlike a traditional storage facility, which requires you to move all your items into a fixed storage unit, mobile storage brings the storage unit to you. Not only does this allow you to pack your items at your own pace, but it also offers a cost-effective way to eliminate the need for expensive movers and trucks. A COW allows you to keep all your items in pods or portable storage containers.

How does a COW work?

Simply give us a call to schedule where and when you want your COW dropped off. One of our professional drivers will deliver your container to you. Once you have packed the container, give us a call to schedule a pickup. We’ll then come back, pickup your container and either deliver it to our secure storage facility for storage, or if you are moving to a new address, deliver it to your new location.

How soon can you deliver my COW?

Generally, we can deliver your container within about one business day. It is recommended that you call in advance to check availability and schedule a rental.

Do I need to be available when my COW is dropped off or picked up?

No. We understand that you are busy and may not be able to be there during drop off or pickup. We do ask that you endure that the area you want your container dropped off is clear and accessible. We will discuss your drop-off location during scheduling.

How long do I have to load / unload my container?

Unlike traditional moving services, there is no time limit. You can take as long as you need to pack and unpack your container. You get utilize your COW around your schedule.

Can I leave the COW on my property for storage?

Absolutely. You set the schedule of when you want your container dropped off and picked up. Keeping the COW at your locations is a great solution for those who need extra space to store their items but also need to their items to be accessible at any time.

Do I need to supply my own lock?

Yes. You will need to supply your own lock to secure your container.

Are there limits on where the container be dropped off?

Because the containers have wheels and are intended to roll, containers typically need to be dropped off on hard surfaces such as driveways, parking lots, or other paved areas. We are not able to drop containers off on soft surfaces such as lawns or other areas where the ground may not support the container.

The area I want my COW dropped off is not level. Will you be able to deliver?

Please discuss this concern with a representative when scheduling. Most often, our professionals can find a solution for your concerns.

I live in an apartment / condo, and I don’t have a driveway. Can I still get a COW?

Because our containers fit into standard parking spaces and the skill of our drivers, delivery to a townhouse, condo, apartment, or other dwelling without a driveway is not an issue. We suggest that you contact your building management or HOA regarding their rules for moving and containers to be sure that there are no regulations against using a COW.

Do I need to get a permit to keep a COW in front of my house or on my property?

In most cases no, however restrictions can vary from one municipality or HOA to another. We suggest speaking with your town or HOA to check requirements.

How much weight can my COW hold?

Our containers are built extremely tough. Our 8’x16’x container can hold as much as 5,000 lbs, which is as much as an adult Rhinoceros! Most of our customers never even come close to this weight limit.

Is there anything I can’t store in my COW?

Yes. Anything that contains hazardous materials or chemicals such as cleaners, spray paint, propane, gasoline, oil, etc. Additionally, motor vehicles and other gas-powered equipment. We also prohibit the storage of animals or the use of the container for housing people. Finally, we recommend that you do not store priceless items such as artwork, paintings, or other items that are extremely fragile or require special storage conditions (i.e. climate-controlled environments).

What are the dimensions of a COW?

The standard 16’ unit is 16’ long x 8’ wide x 8’ heigh. The container offers 128 sq foot of floor space and a total volume of 1,024 cu foot.
